Henan University of Chinese Medicine (hereinafter referred to as “HUCM”) is an institution qualified to recruit the Chinese Government Scholarship applicants. In order to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and people around the world and promote China’s cooperation and exchanges with other countries in various fields, the Chinese government sets up scholarships for talented students and scholars to pursue higher education or conduct research in Chinese universities. The University Program is a scholarship for designated Chinese universities and certain provincial education offices in specific provinces or autonomous regions to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. The program is designed to finance the study of talented international students in China.
1. Supporting Categories, Duration and Instruction Language
1.1 Supporting Categories
The University Program supports graduates (Doctoral students are preferred).
1.2 Duration
The scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory) study. The duration of the language is generally one year and the duration of the scholarship for major study conforms to that as required.

2. Scholarship Coverage
2.1Tuition fees;
2.2Accommodation or accommodation subsidy;
2.3Stipend:
Master’s students: CNY 3,000 per month;
Doctoral students: CNY 3,500 per month.
2.4Comprehensive medical insurance:
CNY 800 per person per year.
3.Majors
Applicants can refer to the “2022 Specialty Catalogue of Chinese Government Scholarship-University Program of HUCM” (Appendix 1). All majors are taught in Chinese.
4. Eligibility
To be eligible, an applicant must:
4.1be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both mentally and physically;
4.2have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 when applying for a master’s program;
4.3have a master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program;
4.4have passed the HSK (Level 4) when applying for a Chinese-taught graduate program;
4.5meet the admission requirements of HUCM in terms of academic ability and others.
5. Application Documents
5.1Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship(Filled in online);
5.2A scanned copy of the Passport Information Page. An applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of the information page of his/her passport that will not expire on or before March 1, 2023. Renew the passport if the requirement is not met. An applicant who fails to apply for a passport due to objective reasons may submit valid documentation or documentary evidence that carries information about the full English name, sex, nationality and date of birth of the applicant upon the approval of HUCM;
5.3Diploma and certificate of highest education (notarized photocopy). An applicant who is a current university student shall submit the certificate of expected graduation or student status issued by his/her university; Certificates in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;
5.4Academic transcripts (both Bachelor's and Master's studies). Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;
5.5A study or research plan written in Chinese or in English. No less than 800 words for graduates;
5.6Recommendation letters. An applicant shall submit two recommendation letters in Chinese or in English from professors or associate professors;
5.7An applicant under the age of 18 shall submit the legal documents of his/her legal guardian(s) in China;
5.8An applicant to study in China for more than six months shall submit a scanned copy of theForeigner Physical Examination Form(the original document, printed by Chinese quarantine authorities, shall be filled in in English and kept by the applicant). The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in theForeigner Physical Examination Form(Appendix 2). Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Medical examination results are valid for only six months;
5.9An applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record (or Police Clearance Certificate) issued by the local public security (such as the police station), usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application;
5.10Certificate of language proficiency. When applying for a Chinese-taught program, an applicant shall provide a valid HSK score report that meets the program’s language ability requirements.
NOTE:All documents submitted to the internet system must be clear, authentic and valid. For the submitted documents, applicants are advised to scan them with professional equipment. The applicant shall be responsible for the consequences caused by the unclear or unrecognizable uploaded documents.
6. Application Process
6.1Anapplicant shall fill in and submit theApplication Form for Chinese Government Scholarshiponline via the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login). The agency number of HUCM is 10471. If necessary, please refer to the system operating instructions>>>>;
6.2At the same time, an applicant shall log in to the “International Student Service System of HUCM”（https://hactcm.17gz.org/）, register online,fill in the application information, and submit all documents through the system.
NOTE:CSC does not accept direct applications from individuals.
7. Application Time
As of early April 2022. The specific time is subject to Chinese Government Scholarship Information System.
8. Scholarship Confirmation
8.1HUCM examines the application documents and decides the nominated candidates;
8.2Nominated candidates will get Chinese government scholarships to study in China with the approval by CSC;
8.3CSC reserves the right to decide the host university for scholarship recipients with multiple offers. Each scholarship recipient even when admitted by multiple universities will be granted with no more than one scholarship;
8.4CSC examines eligibility and qualifications of nominated candidates and sends the admission documents to HUCM. HUCM sends the admission documents (Admission LetterandVisa Application Form for Study in China(JW201)) to scholarshiprecipients;
8.5Scholarship recipients will not be allowed to change their host university, field of study, or duration of study stipulated on theAdmission Letterafter their coming to China;
8.6Scholarship will not be reserved if the scholarship recipient cannot register before the registration deadline.
