The Chinese Medicine Discipline

Chinese Medicine discipline of Henan University of Chinese Medicine is an A-type characteristic discipline in the first batch of construction project of provincial advantageous and characteristic discipline, granted with the accreditation site of doctorate degree and a center for post-doctoral studies for a first-level discipline. The Chinese Medicine discipline consists of 12 second-level disciplines divided into three types, such as Fundamental Chinese Medicine, Fundamental Clinical Medicine and Clinical Medicine. There are 7 characteristic and advantageous research directions, such as Clinical and Fundamental Chinese Medicine Prevention and Treatment of respiratory diseases, Clinical and Fundamental Chinese Medicine Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, Clinical and Fundamental Chinese Medicine Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Diseases, Clinical and Fundamental Chinese Medicine Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases, Research on the Theory and Key Technology of Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Tuina, Medicinal Theory of Chinese Medicine and Clinical Rational Drug Use, and Fundamental Research on Chinese Medicine Formulas and Syndromes.

In recent three years, the discipline has made remarkable achievements in talent team construction, scientific platform construction, production and research result transformation, international communications and cooperation and institutional mechanism construction, etc. Teachers in the discipline have been granted nine honorable titles or awards, such as “Master of Chinese Medicine”, “Leading Talent of the Ten Thousand Talents Project”, “Wu Jieping Medical Innovation Prize”, “National Famous Chinese Medicine Doctors”, “Henan Outstanding Contribution Award” and “Central Plains Talents”, etc. It has trained 1048 postgraduates with master’s degree, 26 postgraduates with doctorate degree and 18 post-doctoral students. It has been granted 3 national scientific research and teaching platforms. It has established or revised academic or professional standards and instructions, clinical diagnosis and treatment standards or programs, and technological standards for 19 times and has put them into practice in 83 medical institutions throughout the country. Teachers in the discipline have won 1 second class prize of the national scientific progress, 4 provincial or ministerial first prizes and 67 inventive patents. They have also published 744 papers on Chinese core journals and 216 papers indexed by SCI/ EI. There are 152 national projects and 133 provincial or ministerial projects being studied, with total funds of 150 million RMB.
