The School of Continuing Education is designed to cultivate high-caliber practical and specialized talents on Chinese medicine as well as its relevant specialties who are equipped with fine vocational qualities of humanities and science, well versed in the profound traditional Chinese culture and can adapt to social needs with the spirit of inheritance and innovation, so as to provide talents support for the economic, social and Chinese medicine development of Henan province. Our school, acting upon the university motto “striving for virtue and knowledge, inheriting the old and exploring the new” and based on quality education, lifelong education and innovation education, adheres to the concepts of strengthening moral education and cultivating students with good quality and takes inheriting and spreading Chinese medicine academic thoughts as our responsibility. Our emphasis is ability cultivation and our aim is to achieve the comprehensive development of the students. 

The ideas for specialty construction in the School of Continuing Education are: stressing the principal role of Chinese medicine related specialties, making coordinated development of other disciplines as well as “developing connotations, improving qualities, emphasizing practice and bringing out our unique features”. These ideas are established by centering around the strategy of the national health service industry and the “One Belt and One Road”. These ideas were put forward in accordance with the overall working ideas of the university proposed in the “The Thirteenth Five Year Plan” Specialty Construction Plan, which in details are to further stabilize scales, optimize structures, construct in categories, develop coordinately and combine evaluation with construction.

    Our school mainly focuses on the adult undergraduate education, moderately reserves some junior college education with Chinese medicine characteristics and actively expands non-degree continuing education. The specialties are preponderantly medicines, pharmacy, nursing and medical skills, etc. with other types of specialties developing in coordination; plus, we vigorously develop the urgently needed specialties in society such as clinical medicine, rehabilitation and health preserving as well as health management. Our school sets our specialties relying on the distinctive and advantageous specialties of the university, and our scales, levels and structures are in proportion to the scales, orientation and resources of the university. Currently, with the help of the advantageous specialties of the university, we have already offered 10 undergraduate specialties and 6 junior college specialties on adult education, and all the specialties names are in accordance with the national laws and regulations.
