1 Why HUCM?
Founded in 1958, Henan University of Chinese Medicine (HUCM) is located in Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan province. It is one of the earliest established TCM universities in China, and the only TCM higher institution in Henan province which was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council to confer Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees. It is one of the five TCM universities co-sponsored by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and provincial government. In the past 60 years, it has developed from a TCM college into a general university with over 19,000 students, providing undergraduate and postgraduate (Master’s and Doctorate) programs, international education and continuing education programs in medicine, engineering, science, management and arts. The university has established cooperative relationships with over 50 educational, research, and medical institutions worldwide.
It has four campuses, covers an area of 1594.94 mu (roughly 163 hectares) consisting of 17 schools (departments or centers), provides 24 Bachelor’s,57 Master’s and 18 Doctoral programs inclusive of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, Acupuncture-Moxibustion and Tuina, Chinese Orthopedics, Nursing, Herbology and Preventive Medicine. Among these 35 are listed as key discipline of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Under it there are 3 provincial level affiliated hospitals, 129 clinical teaching bases, and 59 research institutes.
Henan Province where HUCM is located in, is the major roots of Chinese medicine and birthplace of ZHANG ZHONGJING. Great works of TCM such as the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, the Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases, and the Shennong Herbal Encyclopedia were completed in Henan. Henan produces over 2780 kinds of Chinese herbs, and takes the third place in terms of variety and quantity. Henan is also the place where Chen’s Taichi originated.

3 Application Requirements
3.1 Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health.
3.2 The requirements for applicants’ degree and age are that applicants must:
be a junior college graduate under the age of 25 and should have junior college education of similar majors when applying for the bachelor’s programs;
be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for the bachelor’s programs;
be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master’s programs;
be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoral programs.
4 Supporting documents
4.1Documents required for Bachelor Program
4.1.1 Application Form for Foreign Students to HUCM with a photograph fixed
4.1.2 Highest diploma (photocopy, notarized copy either in Chinese or English)
4.1.3 Academic records for the Bachelor degree for junior college students, High school transcripts for the high school students (notarized copies either in Chinese or English)
4.1.4 Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (filled in English or Chinese, can be downloaded from the attachment below). The Physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid
4.1.5 Chinese Language Proficiency Test result(Valid HSK certificate if available)
4.1.6 One photocopy of the valid passport (first page of passport)
4.2 Documents required for Master & Doctor Program
4.2.1 Application Form for Foreign Students to HUCM with a photograph fixed
4.2.2 Diploma and degree certificate (notarized copy either in Chinese or English)
4.2.3 Related transcripts (notarized copies either in Chinese or English)
4.2.4 Two recommendation letters from professor or associate professor, in Chinese or English
4.2.5 Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (filled in English or Chinese, can be downloaded from the attachment below). The Physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid.
4.2.6 Chinese Language Proficiency Test result (Valid HSK certificate if available)
4.2.7 One photocopy of the valid passport (first page of passport).
Note: All documents should be bound together on top left corner according to the order above. You should submit TWO sets of bound documents. All application documents will NOT be returned.
5 Application procedures
Step1 Email the application form and the photocopy of valid passport (first page of passport) to hucm@hactcm.edu.cn for pre-registration.
Step2 We will email the pre-admission letter after verifying the qualifications.
Step3 You may send in all the required supporting documents to HUCM and email the scanned documents to the email address above by July 1st.
NOTE:The status of your application will be posted on our official website or notified via email before July 10th. We will send the official admission letter and documents required for VISA application to successful candidate at the registered address not later than July 30th.
6 When to Apply
Please submit the application before July 1st.
7 Fees and Funding
7.1 Application Fee:
CNY800 each
7.2 Tuition Fees:
Bachelor degree program: CNY26000 per year
Master degree program: CNY32000 per year
Doctoral degree program: CNY35000 per year
7.3 Accommodation Fees:
CNY960 per month
