On November 10-11, 2018, the first "Cool Three-Dimensional Cup" table tennis competition for college faculty in Henan Province sponsored by Henan Education Department and Henan Students' Sports Federation was held in the gym in Henan City Construction College. Nearly 500 faculty members from 49 colleges and universities in Henan Province participated in the competition. After two days and two stages of fierce competition, our school team won the first place in the total score of the group, and won the "Sports Ethics Award".
For the first time, the competition had expanded the scope to all the colleges and universities in the province. The competition was a mixed group of five males and females competition, which was divided into two stages: subgroup round robin, elimination game and extra match. School leaders attached great importance to it and required the school union and Physical Education School to actively participate in the competition. The school began to select team members from the beginning of October. Team training was organized. Six team members were selected from various posts in the school. They overcame the difficulties of tight time and long distance from their residents. They took advantage of off-duty time and holidays to train actively. They also held friendship matches with other units to discuss their skills. The school leaders also trained with the team members many times, gave on-site guidance and encouraged morale. The team members rehearsed repeatedly, discussed the battle plan, and made full technical, tactical and psychological preparations. During the competition, the players, led by the leader and captain Song Xiaoguang and coach and player Li Tao, worked together to win the first place in the group round robin. In the second phase of the elimination competition, our school team was even more fearless of the strong opponents, worked and pulled together, and rushed to the final. On the final site, the audience cheered up unusually high; players fought tenaciously, showing bravery and brilliance. After the competition, our team finally won the first place in the group total score. This was our school's best historical achievement in participating in table tennis competitions, fully demonstrating the spirit of HUCM.
In this competition, the players have played out their style and level. Through the competition, they have discussed the table tennis skills and improved their competitive level. They have achieved the goal of promoting friendship and enhancing communication through the game.
