After sixty years of twists and turns in folding wave, concerted efforts and continued growth of the university as a result of the solidarity, diligence and courage pave way for its colorful splendor. On November 18, 2018, symposium on international Zhongjing inheritance and innovation＆the 60th anniversary celebration was held successfully at HUCM. Some attendees were present including Ma jianzhong, deputy director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the PRC and chairman of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Zhang boli, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Tianjin university of TCM, national medical master Tang zuxuan and Zhang lei, Kan quancheng, Director and Secretary of Party Leadership of the Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, Chen yinting, provincial working committee of higher education full-time member, secretaries of the party committee and presidents from 20 National Universities of traditional Chinese medicine, leaders of provincial counterparts, successive school-level former leaders , all school heads of HUCM, excellent alumni such as chairman of board of Shanghai changjia group international holdings co. LTD. 86 experts and scholars of Chinese medicine from home and abroad, 60 trainees of the “Senior Seminar on International Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Overseas Chinese Medicine Leaders Training Course ” together with the faculty member's representatives from 14 countries witnessed the activities together. The Symposium was presided over by Bie ronghai, secretary of the party committee. President Xu erping delivered a speech on behalf of the whole school.
Bie ronghai said in his speech that over the past 60 years’ trials and hardships, rugged pursuits and painstaking efforts, group cohesion embodies the everlasting spiritual backbone of HUCM; the 60 years' adhering to "people-centered education and moral first principle" has yielded to fruitful results and manifested indomitable responsibility of HUCM. The 60 years’ devotion to foster the spirit together with tireless cultivating of the plumtrees carries forward the time-honored dedication feelings of HUCM. He stressed that the school has undergone tremendous changes over the past 60 years, and has achieved fundamental leaps. Facing the broad prospect of the development of higher TCM education, the school will be more calm and confident to seize opportunities and meet challenges by abiding by the school motto spirit of "be virtuous and learned; lengthen inheritance and seek innovation". Great virtue will be used to secure our roots. Our duties will be further implemented by taking high moral values establishment and talent cultivation as the fundamental task of education so as to build a first-class university of traditional Chinese medicine with high-quality education. Since erudition will be the pursuit of developing the wisdom of the age, we will further raise the teachers’ troop level and enhance the cohesion of first-class university of traditional Chinese medicine with high quality talents. We will enhance the cohesion of first-class university of traditional Chinese medicine with high-quality teaching, inherit the knowledge of TCM and further cultivate the advantages of the disciplinary development; We will seek innovation to achieve our ambitions by further stimulating the vitality of scientific research and innovation; We will cultivate the creativity of first-class university of traditional Chinese medicine with high-quality scientific research as well as the spreading and cultivation of college spirit; We will make huge efforts to build the university into an internationally renowned, domestic first-class teaching and research university of Chinese medicine.
Zhang boli pointed out in his speech that over the past 60 years, Henan university of traditional Chinese medicine, located on the central plains and rooted in the hometown of medical sage, has made great efforts to develop and innovate. Various undertakings have developed rapidly. He believes that the school will take this as an opportunity to continue to carry forward the fine tradition of running a school, focus on gathering strength, keep pace with the times, inherit our great cause and make another splendid achievement.
Zhang Lei said in his speech that all his honors and achievements were given by the party and the school. He wishes the school staff must unite as one, remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind; he also presses the students to obtain academic achievements through actions to repay the education grace of our Alma mater. He wishes our Alma mater will keep young forever and continue to cultivate a large number of top-notch talents to make greater contributions to the cause of traditional Chinese medicine. He also inscribes a poem to our Alma mater: “Going through these ups and downs for the past 60 years, we start from scratch from seedling to towering trees. Our school is a cradle for millions of medical students who labor over the eternal flame heritage. Nearly 90 years old master zhang lei also improvised a poem for the international zhongjing heritage and innovation symposium: “Medical workers from home and abroad gather together to hold joint discussion about scholastic attainment; success is to be gained in diligence and masterpieces will emerge if you learn widely; we’re bathing in the boundless love; Zhongjing scholar thoughts will be pushed forward in our country. ”
Zhao changjia expressed his thankfulness and gratitude to his Alma mater with three words: happy, thankful and grateful. He said that the cultivation of his Alma mater has laid a solid professional foundation for the development of the career of changjia group. He hoped that by setting up the "changjia fund" in his Alma mater, he could give back to his Alma mater and the society.
President Xu Erping pointed out in his speech that the school will make joint efforts to achieve the cohesion of zhongjing brand, draw on strengths, highlight its unique features, inherit Zhongjing scholar thoughts, carry forward Zhongjing culture, focus on TCM innovation and develop provincial pharmaceutical drug economy. TCM will be pushed forward to the world by inheriting, digging in, carrying forward zhang zhongjing medical thoughts which is expected to be the supreme banner of traditional Chinese medicine, the best-known brand and the largest intangible assets in Henan province. The school will take this as an opportunity and keep the aim in mind, work together for a common cause, be of one heart and one mind and make progress together. Through strengthening exchanges and deepening cooperation with scholars from all over the world, the school will constantly improve the inheritance and innovation level of the theory of Zhang Zhongjing so that zhongjing theory will radiate a more glowing brilliant light and our school will have a brighter future.
In his speech, Chen yinting fully affirmed the outstanding achievements of our school and prominent contributions to the society over the past 60 years. He stressed that education is the country’s a fundamental task crucial for generations to come and the major program of the party. The reform and development of higher education which is critical to future, is a long-term cause concerning the overall situation. He hopes that our school, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, will earnestly and substantially implement the spirit of national conference on education and the national higher undergraduate education conference in the new era, effectively strengthen the leadership of the party, persevere in the socialist orientation in education, take high moral values establishment and people cultivation as the fundamental task of education, further carry forward the accumulated good tradition, good style and good experience of our school over the past 60 years , build a first-class talent cultivation university and make great contribution to the development of education as well as people's health care.
Kan quancheng fully affirmed the outstanding achievements and significant contributions in serving local economic and social development made by our school over the past 60 years. He hopes that the school should aim to improve people’s health level, continue to take it as its own duty to promote the development of traditional Chinese medicine in the course of development, raise the overall level of education quality and improve quality of running a school, thread through the idea of “masses’ satisfaction with the running of universities ” to the whole process of running a school, vigorously promote Zhang zhongjing culture and core values of traditional Chinese medicine, play a greater role in serving and boosting Henan economic and social development, and make greater contributions to create historical opportunities for a healthy zhongyuan .
In his speech, Ma jianzhong extended warm congratulations on the opening of the symposium and the activities. He hopes that the school will adhere to" take high moral values establishment and people cultivation as the fundamental task of education", grasp the direction of running a school, stick to medical education coordination and deepen the reform of teaching, adhere to regional characteristics, consolidate the foundation of culture, strengthen education of transmission from masters and promote live transmission. He wishes the school will take the 60 anniversary as an opportunity to further implement the national education conference spirit, fully implement a series of important statements of Xi jinping on the development of Chinese medicine, persist in the correct political orientation, be orientated towards the needs of career development, follow the law of development of Chinese medicine, highlight the characteristics of TCM advantages and zhongjing features, actively promote regional development of economy and society as well as move ahead to build the school into an internationally preeminent, domestic first-class university of Chinese medicine.
During the symposium, Lu yucai, Sun jianzhong, the two former secretaries of the party committee, and zheng yuling, the former president of the school, respectively issued certificates of honor to the person chiefly in charge of the national science and technology progress award , national teaching achievement award and to the teacher representatives with 60 years of teaching and 60 years of schooling.
96 nationwide peer universities sent letters and telegrams of congratulations, ahead of the symposium.
