In this golden autumn of October, gentle breeze brings coolness and fragrance of fruits spreads faraway. On October 14, 2018, sponsored by the first affiliated hospital, jointly participated by the second and third affiliated hospital, a large-scale free clinic & public lecture（Zhengzhou station） in celebrating the 60th anniversary with a theme of “contributions to better healthcare for people by inheritance of TCM” was held in Zijingshan park. Guo dexin, deputy secretary of the party committee of the university, heads of the development planning department and affiliated hospitals, experts from the four affiliated hospitals, volunteers and some journalists from the news media attended the launch ceremony which was presided over by Sun kexing, director of development planning department.
Guo dexin, deputy secretary of the party committee of the university, pointed out in his speech at the launch ceremony that after 60 years of development and sedimentary accretion, HUCM has already been hailed as the centre and the forerunner in talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, medical services and cultural inheritance in Henan province. As the 60th anniversary is approaching, a series of large-scale public welfare activities will be the manifestation of a thorough implementation of the party’s 19th CPC national congress and Xi jinping’s thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era , a demand of conscientious implementation of the sixth plenary session of the tenth CPC central committee and its work conference, a mission of saving lives, contributing to better healthcare for people and building a beautiful and healthy China. It is also the original intention of dissemination of health knowledge, raising health awareness, relieving people's physical and mental sufferings, and providing high quality medical services for the masses. He hopes that experts and volunteers who participate in this activity can accomplish this activity with higher standards, more realistic style , more powerful actions and high quality.
The large-scale public welfare activity then kicked off. Zijingshan park was teeming with more patients and consultants than the staff could attend to single-handed. Free blood pressure measurement, blood sugar tests, popular science handbooks, TCM fortune bags as well as health gift bags were also provided for the citizens at the same time. The free clinic lasted nearly 4 hours and gave gratuitous treatment over 1200 patients with satisfactory results. In the afternoon, more than 1,000 people listened to a large health lecture given by professor cui gongrang, a nationally renowned expert in peripheral vascular science and professor zhao kun, a paediatrician, in zhengzhou gymnasium.
This activity is rich in content, diverse in form, wide in audience and far-reaching in influence. The participating units and individuals not only gave back to the society with their unadorned feelings of "benevolence of doctors", but also contributed their strength and wisdom, and fully displayed the elegant demeanor of HUCM to embrace its upcoming 60th birthday.
