The Second Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of TCM is a nationally A-level Third Grade general TCM hospital with an integrated whole of medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention of diseases and health care. It has been appointed to take up medical insurance service for people in the provincial and Zhengzhou City’s units. Founded in 1986, formally opening business in 1992 covering an area of 150 mu, the hospital covering an area of 150 mu now has over 1,000 staff members, including 3 experts receiving the state special allowance, 57 postgraduate tutors and over 180 chief physicians holding senior professional titles. Its environment is beautiful, clean and comfortable. The hospital is well equipped with modern diagnostic devices including spiral CT, C-arm, DR, digital gastrointestinal X-ray, electronic gastroscope, colorful ultrasound, full-automatic biochemical analyzer, etc. Presently the hospital has 500 beds, over 40 departments of emergency, ICU, internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, the five sense organs, acupuncture, dermopathy, cavascope center and so on. Feature divisions are known for the treatment of tumor, encephalopathy, cardiovascular disease, orthopedics liver disease, and gynecology, of which the first four are the state and provincial level key specialties, emergency is the state level key clinical construction unit, and liver disease is key specialty of Henan Province. In addition, the hospital has set up a “traditional medicine treatment centre” by comprehensive use of TCM therapy for prevention, treatment, health nurturing and rehabilitation, and health care.
The Second Affiliated Hospital adheres to the strategy of “developing university by depending on science and technology”and focuses on the exploitation and application of new technologies. At present, the hospital has won over 80 scientific research achievements awards at different levels, published more than 2 000 academic papers, and taken up over 170 research projects, including 2 state-level programs of “11th five-year plan.”Meanwhile, it is also responsible for clinical teaching of over 2,000 undergraduates, postgraduates and graduate students. There are 2 majors (Chinese Medicine and Chinese Orthopedics) with 9 separate disciplines. Chinese internal medicine and Chinese orthopedics are key disciplines of Henan Province. TCM major with 6 specialties for Master’s degree program is the brand-name specialty of Henan Province.
