Established on April the 28th of 2003, the Humanities School of Henan University of TCM endeavors and develops vigorously, with the developmental thoughts “combining medicine with humanities, emphasizing both teaching and scientific research, stressing both theory and practice”.
With 4 college-grade featured disciplines as Political Education, Physical Education, Administration and Psychology, the Humanities School include 49 teaching staff, 5 professors, 17 associate professors, 14 lecturers, 4 tutors, 3 paraprofessional school personnel, among which highly-ranked teachers account for 49%, teachers below 40 years old account for 69%, with 3 doctors, 14 masters and several teachers receiving master’s or doctor’s degrees education. The Humanities School set the 4-year major in Public Affair Administration (Health), with 266 students in school. The school has its own specialized library, holding more than 11000 specialized books and more than 100 Chinese and foreign magazines. Insisting both teaching and scientific research, the humanities school has won 14 province-grade awards such as “civilized teachers”, “teachers with high morals”, 7 award titles as “the favorite teachers”. Hosting or participating 3 nation-grade subjects, more than 10 province-grade or ministry-grade subjects, publishing more than 150 papers (including more than 40 core journals), teachers of our school compiled more than 20 works or teaching materials, more than 20 scientific subjects. In August of 2005, the Provincial Education Bureau formally approved the establishment of the Development Research Center of the TCM and Economic Society and the important research base of humanities and social science, the first funded one among the present TCM colleges and universities, getting financial support from the provincial executive education bureau. In March of 2006, the master degree authorization was successfully approved, which was the only one master degree authorization point on political education among the TCM colleges and universities. Now it has opened three majors, including Medical Ethics Research, Political Education Theory and Administration Research, Political Education Theory and Practice Research. Besides, the LLM degree could be authorized here. In 2007, it planned to admit 12 people.
