The Adult Education School of Henan University of TCM was once called the Correspondence Branch of Henan University of TCM. It was approved by the education committee of the Henan province in 1983 and filed in the National Education Ministry. The adult education is included in the overall development program of the university. With the expansion of the education, increase of majors and education levels, and the TCM continuing education towards personnel in the grass roots, the Correspondence Branch was renamed the Adult Education Ministry of the Henan University of TCM and renamed Adult Education School of Henan University of TCM in 1994. Under the guidance of the education and TCM policies of the communist party, with the support of the leaders of the university, the adult education career was highly developed and made great achievements in recent years. It developed from the correspondence education of TCM in 1983 to the present high school-based full-time 4-year adult education in TCM pharmacy and pharmacy and 3-year education in Chinese Medicine, Integrated Chinese & Western Medicine and Nursing majors, the part-time education forms including 7 majors of 3-year education (Chinese Medicine, TCM pharmacy, Acupuncture & Tuina, Chinese Orthopedics, Integrated Chinese & Western Clinical Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy) and 8 majors of 5-year education (Chinese Medicine, TCM pharmacy, Acupuncture & Tuina, Chinese Orthopedics, Integrated Chinese & Western Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and marketing). Since the formation of the school, Adult Education School has enrolled more than 20 thousand students, coming from 12 provinces or districts: Inner Mongolia, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Shandong, Guangdong, Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Hainan, Shanxi and Henan. In October of 1993, the school won the first award in the education levels evaluation of the correspondence education and the night schools organized by SATCM. In the October of 1997, our school is the only one “excellent school”, subsequently awarded by the national educational bureau and provincial educational bureau in the first national educational evaluation on correspondence education and night schools of the ordinary colleges and universities. This is the approval and encouragement of the adult education of our university, and the huge power of the development of the adult education in our university.
Adult Education School is the affiliated second-grade school of our university, with five functional branches: dean office, teaching office, admission office, student affairs office, continuing education office. The school is being full charge of the education and government of the adult education, with its teaching activities being unanimously governed by the teaching facilities of the university. Teachers of the school are arranged by the university. Presently, with the further reform of the school, it is planned to improve the qualities of education, actively develop potentials, improve the internal construction, enforce the clinical teaching in the back stage, improve the practical abilities of students, with the effort of cultivating more practical and applicable TCM talents to meet with social needs.
