2022 Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program of H​enan University of Chinese Medicine (HUCM)

The program accords with the cooperation and exchange agreements or consensus reached by the Chinese government and the governments and institutions of other nations. An applicant shall file an application with the dispatching department of their home countries.

1.Supporting Categories, Duration and InstructionLanguage

1.1 Supporting Categories

The Bilateral Program supports undergraduates, graduates,general and senior scholars.

1.2 Duration

The scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory) study. The duration of the language is generally one year and the duration of the scholarship for major study conforms to that as required.

2. Scholarship Coverage

2.1Tuition fees;

2.2Accommodation or accommodation subsidy;

2.3Stipend:

Undergraduates: CNY 2,500 per month;

Master’s students/general scholars: CNY 3,000 per month;

Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500 per month.

2.4Comprehensive medical insurance:

CNY 800 per person per year;

CNY 400 per person (for programs lasting less than six months)

3. Majors

Applicants can refer to the “2022 Specialty Catalogue of Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program of HUCM” (Appendix 1). All majors are taught in Chinese.

4. Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:

4.1be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both mentally and physically;

4.2have a high school diploma or its equivalent under the age of 25 when applying for an undergraduate program;

4.3have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 when applying for a master’s program;

4.4have a master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program;

4.5have a high school diploma (or higher) under the age of 45 when applying for a general scholar program;

4.6have a master’s degree or be an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for a senior scholar program;

4.7have passed the HSK (Level 3) when applying for a Chinese-taught undergraduate or scholar program;

4.8have passed the HSK (Level 4) when applying for a Chinese-taught graduate program;

4.9meet the admission requirements of HUCM in terms of academic ability and others.

5. Application Documents

5.1Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship(Filled in online);

5.2A scanned copy of the Passport Information Page.An applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of the information page of his/her passport that will not expire on or before March 1, 2023. Renew the passport if the requirement is not met. An applicant who fails to apply for a passport due to objective reasons may submit valid documentation or documentary evidence that carries information about the full English name, sex, nationality and date of birth of the applicant upon the approval of HUCM;

5.3Diploma and certificate of highest education (notarized photocopy). An applicant who is a current university student shall submit the certificate of expected graduation or student status issued by his/her university; Certificates in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;

5.4Academic transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English;

5.5A study or research plan written in Chinese or in English. No less than 200 words/characters for undergraduates; no less than 500 words/characters for scholars; no less than 800 words/characters for graduates;

5.6Recommendation letters. An applicant for a graduate program or for academic education as a senior scholar shall submit two recommendation letters in Chinese or in English from professors or associate professors;

5.7An applicant under the age of 18 shall submit the legal documents of his/her legal guardian(s) in China;

5.8An applicant to study in China for more than six months shall submit a scanned copy of theForeigner Physical Examination Form(the original document, printed by Chinese quarantine authorities, shall be filled in in English and kept by the applicant). The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in theForeigner Physical Examination Form(Appendix 2). Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Medical examination results are valid for only six months;

5.9An applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record (or Police Clearance Certificate) issued by the local public security (such as the police station), usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application;

5.10Certificate of language proficiency. When applying for a Chinese-taught program, an applicant shall provide a valid HSK score report that meets the program’s language ability requirements.

NOTE:All documents submitted to the internet system must be clear, authentic and valid. For the submitted documents, applicants are advised to scan them with professional equipment. The applicant shall be responsible for the consequences caused by the unclear or unrecognizable uploaded documents.

6. Application Process

6.1Anapplicant shall fill in and submit theApplication Form for Chinese Government Scholarshiponline via the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login). The agency number of HUCM is 10471. If necessary, please refer to the system operating instructions>>>>;

6.2At the same time, an applicant shall log in to the “International Student Service System of HUCM”(https://hactcm.17gz.org/), register online,fill in the application information, and submit all documents through the system.

7. Application Time

As of early April 2022. The specific time is subject to the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System.

8. Scholarship Confirmation

8.1Application documents of recommended candidates from dispatching authorities will be considered by CSC for eligibility and qualification. Ineligible or incomplete applications will not be considered;

8.2Qualified applications will be sent to universities for placement. Based on various factors, such as the different scholarship funding requirements of every country, the host university’s teaching capacity, study length and applicants’ criteria, CSC reserves the right to make necessary adjustments/changes to the candidate’s host university, field of study, supporting categories and duration of scholarship. Applications enclosed with the Pre-admission Letter will be sent to the universities who issued that Letter for placement confirmation;

8.3After placement confirmation by Chinese universities, scholarship recipients will get Chinese government scholarships to study in China with approval by CSC. Each scholarship recipient will be granted with no more than one scholarship;

8.4CSC examines the placement results, approves the list of scholarship recipients and sends the admission documents to the Chinese embassy or consulate-general. The Chinese embassy or consulate-general will send the admission documents (List of Scholarship Recipients,Admission LetterandVisa Application Form for Study in China(JW201)) to the dispatching authorities or scholarshiprecipients;

8.5Scholarship recipients will not be allowed to change their host university, field of study, or duration of study stipulated on theAdmission Letterafter their coming to China;

8.6Scholarship will not be reserved if the scholarship recipient cannot register before the registration deadline.
