TEACHER AND STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA OF THE UNITED STATES VISITED OUR SCHOOL

On the afternoon of May 15th, 2018, led by Elizabeth, executive dean of the Joint Health School, the teachers and students of University of South Alabama visited our university. The two sides held a forum on the 11th floor conference room of the new training building, then they visited the new campus. Vice President Zhang Xiaoping met with the guests, the head of School of Rehabilitation Medicine attended the meeting.

The University of South Alabama is a public university, located in the Mobile, Alabama, which was founded by the Alabama legislature in 1963. Based on the early communication with each other, our university signed a memorandum of cooperation with the University of South Alabama on 3 July 2018. We will improve the running level by joint education, scientific research cooperation, teacher training and student exchange and so on.

In the meeting, Vice President Zhang Xiaoping welcomed the guests and introduced the development status of our university and the culture of Chinese Medicine in Henan. He said that Henan is located in the Yellow River Basin and is the birthplace of Chinese civilization, and is also the hometown of Zhang Zhongjing, a medical sage. Chinese medicine culture has a long history here. In recent years, our country has attached great importance to the TCM. The development of Chinese medicine is glorious and has a bright future. He expressed his hope that the two universities would take advantage of cooperation and exchange in areas such as rehabilitation, health care, nursing, traditional Chinese medicine, and scientific research, etc. so that Chinese medicine could benefit the whole human race. Dean Elizabeth expressedhisgratitude for the warm reception and hoped to promote an in-depth communication between Chinese and American universities on TCM by the sincere cooperation between two sides.

After the meeting, the guests visited the Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Botanical Garden of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Museum of University history. They were deeply attracted by the rich culture of Chinese medicine, abundant medicinal materials, and exquisite design. They praised the profound culture of Chinese medicine. The two sides also discussed on the next steps of exchange and cooperation, such as teacher training, teacher exchanges, and students studying abroad, etc. (Department of International Cooperation,School of Rehabilitation Medicine)
